New side-project, and upcoming releases...

Some news...

Out now on Montreal's new Kinnta Records label is a cassette collaboration between myself and Christian Richer (of Element Kuuda, Haiduks and Cavernes) called Soft Mirage. The album is titled Ionian Dream. This project explores more guitar-drums oriented sounds, with heavy synthesizer accompaniment. Here's the write-up courtesy of Hobo Cult magnate Francesco de Gallo:

After the amazing response brought on by the psych-pop compilation The Lemon Tape, this second offering by new Montreal label Kinnta Records serves as a springboard into psychoactive zones of mellow radiance by Soft Mirage. Comprised of ever evolving synth wizards Norm Chambers (Panabrite, Spiral Index) & Christian Richer (Élément Kuuda, The Haiduks, Cavernes), this new project is a collaboration hailing from the soft-prog archives of library record collectors. These focused compositions utilise acoustic guitar as the backbone for the gentle and sweeping atmospheres Chambers & Richer have come to perfect. Here, the synths are used for accenting the melodies & creating spacey backdrops, the main focus being the bass, drums & guitar, working as a whole.

Titles like Along The Cliffs, Dripping Sentiment & Caverns Of Light hint at environments that delve in profound & pensive emotions... a type of dream that encapsules love and sorrow, yet glows with enlightenment. A truly hazy and beautiful adventure filled with smooth grooves & glittering arpeggios.

- Francesco De Gallo (Hobo Cult Records)

Ionian Dream is available to order on tape from Kinnta, and for download at bandcamp.

Also a word on some upcoming projects...

Sometime in late June or July look for the LP reissue of Illumination (via Under the Spire Recordings). This release initially came out on tape through Sicsic Records late last year in a limited edition of 85. It has been remastered by Seth Chrisman, and also boasts new cover-art, by Aaron Troyer.

Also around July look for a CD on Australia's highly esteemed Preservation label. More info soon. I've been working on a slow-burning collaboration with Montreal electronics wizard Riccardo Lucchesi, in addition to a split with Lunar Miasma, a TBA split LP with Giant Claw on Dumpster Diving Lab, and a tape release on Zombi's VCO Recordings, as well as a tape on Field Hymns!

New videos and some news...

Here's a new video by Camilla Padgitt-Coles for an older track, which is on Sub-Aquatic Meditation, soon to be released as a reissue LP on Aguirre Records, sometime within a month or so. This album was originally released as half of a split cassette with Hobo Cubes, on Hobo Cult Records in early 2010. This reissue will have two extra tracks and has been remastered by Brad Rose.

Also, here's some live video from a performance at the Debacle Fest, this past August:

Finally, some news on upcoming releases: Sometime near the end of the year, or very early next year, should see the vinyl debut of new material, Soft Terminal, on Digitalis. Keep an eye out for that one. Also, at the end of November Sicsic Tapes, out of Germany, will release a new tape called Illumination. Stream some of the tracks below:

Illumination by panabrite

Further down the line... look out for the tape Seychelles, on Field Studies. Also in the distant future, split tapes with Lunar Miasma, Celestino, a collaborative project with Riccardo Lucchesi, and lastly a project that's been in the making for a long time called Soft Mirage, a collaborative soft-prog/electronic project with the monster Montreal talent Christian Richer. Look out for a debut LP sometime next year!

As always, keep an eye on my facebook page for the latest info. Thanks!
